CHARLESTON, SC – As the Charleston RiverDogs prepare to host auditions to sing the National Anthem under the bright lights at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park this season, they’ve brought in some help from those who have an ear for talent and who listen to music for a living.
The RiverDogs have announced the addition of a judges panel of three local radio personalities to help select contestants as part of the RiverDogs’ National Anthem Auditions tomorrow on Thursday, March 31, from 4-7pm. Local radio hosts Terry Base of Magic 107.3, Yonni Rude of 95SX and Bill West of Nash FM 96.9 join RiverDogs Community Relations Director Haley Kirchner in the search for local talent to sing our nation’s anthem for the 70 games at The Joe.
“We’re excited to be bringing back guest judges for the second year in a row,” said Kirchner. “Our celebrity panel last year was a great addition to an already-popular event that showcases plenty of local talent right here in the Lowcountry.”
Those wishing to perform the Star-Spangled Banner should report behind home plate at The Joe. Should inclement weather persist, there will be no makeup date as in years past, but video auditions will be accepted via email to communityrelations@riverdogs.com.
Auditions are open to performers of all kinds and ensembles of nine or less. Groups of 10 or more are asked to partake in the RiverDogs Group Anthem Program at www.riverdogs.com.
Everyone is asked to audition regardless of whether they have performed at a game in previous seasons or not. Those auditioning must fill out an audition form that can be found at www.riverdogs.com. Forms must be filled out and submitted to communityrelations@riverdogs.com prior to the audition day.
Please note that by auditioning, it does not guarantee a spot and also being selected for the audition pool does not guarantee a game due to the overwhelming popularity and strength of performers in the area. In the past, the RiverDogs have routinely had more qualified performers than available game dates.
For additional information on the auditions, please contact Kirchner at (843)723-7241 or at communityrelations@riverdogs.com.
