Thunder Announce Initial Player List For 2015

The Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced their initial player list for 2015 on Monday afternoon. The list contains four of the top-five prospects in the Yankees system according to Baseball America. The players, coaches and staff on this list are expected to be at ARM & HAMMER Park on Tuesday for Media Day and the Welcome North Open House.

The list includes 16 players who saw time with the Thunder in 2014 and two members of the Yankees 40-man roster in catcher Gary Sanchez and outfielder Mason Williams. The top prospects, according to Baseball America, that will begin the season with the Thunder are pitcher Luis Severino (#1), outfielder Aaron Judge (#2), first baseman Greg Bird (#4) and Sanchez (#5).

Severino went 2-2 with a 2.52 ERA in six starts with the Thunder after his promotion on July 15. Sanchez spent the entire 2014 campaign in Double-A and batted .270 with 13 home runs and 65 runs driven in.

An official Opening Night roster will be released prior to the first game of the season.

Your Thunder, the Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, will begin the 2015 season on April 9 in Erie against the Seawolves. The first home game at ARM & HAMMER Park is on Thursday, April 16.
