Thunder Cash in Their Chance, Take Series

TRENTON, NJ – On a night in which the first 2,000 fans, ages 18 and up, received instant scratch tickets courtesy of the NJ Lottery, the Thunder took advantage of a Chance on the mound and took the series against the Harrisburg Senators; with a 3-1 victory on Thursday night at ARM & HAMMER Park.

In front of 5,432 fans, Chance Adams made his double-A debut and delivered 5.1 innings of scoreless baseball. Adams, who was opposed by top prospect Lucas Giolito, allowed four hits, one walk, and struck out three.

The Thunder offense got a jump-start from Lane Adams when he took Giolito out to left-center for his fourth home run of the season. His second inning blast gave the Thunder an early 1-0 lead. In the fourth inning, Cito Culver added to the Thunder lead with an RBI triple to right-center. The triple scored Sebastian Valle and just three pitches later, Culver scored on a wild pitch thrown by Giolito.

With the 3-0 advantage, Adams combined with Alex Smith, J.R. Graham, Jonathan Holder to hold the Senators to just one run. That run came in the seventh when Chris Bostick started the frame with a double then scored on a throwing error by Dante Bichette Jr.

Harrisburg nearly drew even later in the seventh inning. J.R. Graham entered with two on and one out. Graham gave up a single to Kevin Keyes then induced a double play ball from Stephen Perez to protect the 3-1 lead.

With the victory, the Thunder are now 9-0-1 in home series’ this season.

Your Thunder continue their homestand on Friday night at 7pm against the Binghamton Mets. LHP Daniel Camarena will start for the Thunder, RHP Josh Zeid will go for Binghamton. The first 1,500 fans, ages six and up, will receive Thunder Team Baseball Card Sets presented by Verizon. Tickets are available by phone at 609-394-3300 or online at TrentonThunder.com.
