TRENTON, NJ – The New Hampshire Fisher Cats touched Thunder starter Jaron Long for five unearned runs as the visitors took a 8-1 victory over the Thunder on Labor Day afternoon at ARM & HAMMER Park.
With the defeat, the Thunder finish the season with a record of 71-71.
New Hampshire scored the game’s first run when KJ Alexander committed an error in right field to allow KC Hobson to score from second in the second inning. The Fisher Cats added four more unearned runs in the third thanks to an error by 2B Billy Fleming. Kevin Nolan drove in a pair in the frame to take a 5-0 advantage for the visitors.
The only run for the Thunder offense came across in the fifth inning when Dan Fiorito singled and moved to third on KJ Alexander’s base hit. Danny Oh lifted a fly ball to left for a sacrifice fly and cut the deficit to 6-1 at the time.
Alex Smith finished off the game for the Thunder on the mound with a pair of strikeouts in a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Tyler Wade doubled in the eighth inning and finished his season with 13 hits in his final 40 at-bats (.325).
