Thunder Punch 11th Playoff Ticket

PORTLAND, ME – The Trenton Thunder are heading to the postseason. With a 4-2 15-innning win over the Portland Sea Dogs Saturday night at Hadlock Field, the Thunder improve to 82-51 on the season and cannot be caught by the Hartford Yard Goats for second place in the East Division.

Thunder starting pitcher Will Carter went 5.1 innings before deferring to a bullpen which helped keep the game as-is through

With the game tied 2-2 into the 15th inning the Thunder scored twice in the top half of the inning on RBI singles from Miguel Andujar and Billy McKinney. That gave the Thunder enough of a lead that in the bottom of the 15th inning, the first two men reached against J.P. Feyereisen but he recorded his third scoreless inning and slammed the door on a 4-2 win.

Trenton makes the postseason for the 11th time in the 23-year history of the franchise and the eighth time in the 14-year affiliation with the New York Yankees. The Hartford Yard Goats and Harrisburg Senators played earlier Saturday afternoon and Harrisburg had the opportunity to punch Trenton’s ticket to the postseason by knocking off the ‘Goats. Instead, Hartford won 4-2 and it put the onus back on the Thunder to take earn their way into the playoffs.

The Thunder and Sea Dogs conclude their final meeting of the regular season Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. with pregame coverage set for 12:45 p.m. on 91.3 FM and online at www.trentonthunder.com.
