New Britain starting pitcher Taylor Rogers scattered five hits in 6.1 innings for his second win of the season. He was followed out of the bullpen by Cole Johnson who did not allow a hit in 2.2 innings down the stretch.
Offensively, the Thunder were provided two-hit nights by Carmen Angelini (2-for-2) and Rob Segedin (2-for-3) and also got a hit from catcher Tyson Blaser in his seventh start of the year.
The loss secures the series victory for the Rock Cats and means that Trenton is now 6-1-3 in their first 10 series of the season. The Thunder have lost three consecutive games for the first time this season.
The three-game series concludes Wednesday at New Britain Stadium when the Thunder take on the Rock Cats with a bright-and-early scheduled 10:35 a.m. first pitch. The game can be heard on www.trentonthunder.com or on 91.3 FM WTSR with the Trenton Thunder Pre-Game Show beginning at 10:20 a.m.
