The Yankees announced on Saturday in a statement that right-handed pitcher, Tommy Kahnle elected free agency in lieu of an outright assignment to the Minors.
Kahnle, who has been with the Yankees since 2017, pitched just one game during the shortened 2020 season, where he pitched just one inning and surrendered one hit and no runs. He struck out three and walked one in his one inning of work.
He would then be put on the injured list and undergo Tommy John surgery this past August. He is expected to miss a considerable amount of time in 2021 while recovering from surgery.
