Top 10 Prospects Weekly Report – Week of August 29

Take a look at how the New York Yankees top 10 prospects did this week

 

Clint Frazier, OF, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A)

Frazier is on the 7-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain

 

Gleyber Torres, INF, Tampa Yankees (Single A Advanced)

Monday: Gleyber batted third and played shortstop. He went 1-4 with a strikeout in Tampa’s 2-0 loss to the Dunedin Blue Jays.

Tuesday: Game suspended, to resume on 8/31

Wednesday: Doubleheader Cancelled

Thursday: Game postponed

Friday: Game postponed

Saturday: Doubleheader Cancelled

Sunday: In game one of the doubleheader, Torres batted fourth and played shortstop. He went 1-5 with a run scored. In game two, Gleyber batted fourth and played second base. He went 0-4 with two strikeouts.

 

Jorge Mateo, INF, Tampa Yankees (Single A Advanced)

Monday: Mateo lead-off and played second base. He went 0-3 with a walk and two strikeouts. Jorge was also picked off at first base after the walk and was out at second base on a caught stealing.

Tuesday: Game suspended, to resume on 8/31

Wednesday: Doubleheader Cancelled

Thursday: Game postponed

Friday: Game postponed

Saturday: Doubleheader Cancelled

Sunday: In game one of the doubleheader, Jorge led-off and played second base. He went 1-6 with a strikeout. In game two, Mateo played shortstop and led-off. He went 1-4 with a run scored, a RBI and a strikeout. Jorge stole a base and committed an error (throwing).

 

Aaron Judge, 0F, New York Yankees (Major League)

Monday: Judge batted eighth and played right field. He went 0-3 at the plate with three strikeouts in New York’s 8-5 loss to Kansas City.

Tuesday: Aaron batted eighth and played right field. He went 1-5 with a home run, two runs batted in and a run scored. Judge also struck out twice.

Wednesday: Judge entered the game as an injury replacement for Aaron Hicks in the bottom of the 9th inning. He went 0-2 with two strikeouts.

Thursday: Off

Friday: Aaron batted ninth and played right field. He went 0-3 with two strikeouts.

Saturday: Judge batted eighth and played right field. He went 0-2 with a walk and two strikeouts. Aaron committed a fielding error, which resulted in a run scoring in the Yankees 2-0 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.

Sunday: Aaron batted seventh and played right field. He went 1-4 with a run scored and a strikeout.

 

Gary Sanchez, C, New York Yankees (Major League)

Monday: Sanchez batted third and caught. He went 1-4 with a run scored and a strikeout. Defensively, Gary threw out one of three Royals that attempted to steal a base.

Tuesday: Gary batted third and caught. He went 1-6 with two strikeouts. Three runners stole off Sanchez, and he committed his first error (throwing).

Wednesday: Sanchez batted third and caught. He went 1-5 with a double, run scored, walk and strikeout. The Royals swiped three bases off of Sanchez for the second consecutive night. Gary did, however, throw out Raul Mondesi at third base.

Thursday: Off

Friday: Gary batted third and caught. He went 0-2 with a walk and strikeout.

Saturday: Sanchez was the designated hitter and batted third. He went 1-4 with two strikeouts.  

Sunday: Gary batted third and caught. He went 0-2 with two walks and a strikeout.

 

Blake Rutherford, OF, Pulaski Yankees (Rookie)

Rutherford is out the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury.

 

Justus Sheffield, SP, Trenton Thunder (Double-A)

Monday: Did not play

Tuesday: Did not play

Wednesday: Did not play

Thursday: Did not play

Friday: Justus gave up two hits, one run (unearned) and three walks in his Double-A debut. He struck out nine and induced three groundouts to two fly-outs.

Saturday: Did not play

Sunday: Did not play

 

Miguel Andujar, INF, Trenton Thunder (Double-A)

Monday: Andujar batted third and played third base in Trenton’s 8-7 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. He went 1-5 with a run scored.

Tuesday: Miguel batted third and played third base in Trenton’s 6-4 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. He went 2-5 with a run scored and a strikeout.

Wednesday: Did not play

Thursday: Andujar batted third and played third base in Trenton’s 5-3 loss to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. He went 1-4 with a run batted in and a strikeout.

Friday: Miguel batted third and played third base in Trenton’s 2-1 victory over the Reading Phillies. He went 2-4 with a double and a strikeout.

Saturday: Andujar batted third and played third base in Trenton’s 10-5 loss to the Reading Phillies. He went 0-5 with a RBI and two strikeouts. In the field, Miguel committed his 15th error of the season (throwing).

Sunday: Miguel batted third and was the designated hitter. He went 1-4 with three strikeouts.

 

Domingo Acevedo, SP, Tampa Yankees (Single A Advanced)

Acevedo is currently on the 7-day disabled list.

 

Dillon Tate, RP, Charleston RiverDogs (Single-A)

Monday: Off

Tuesday: Did not play

Wednesday: Tate tossed 2.1 innings of relief in Charleston’s 6-5 win over the Hagerstown Suns. He struck out three, walked two, gave up one hit and allowed one earned run. Dillon’s ERA with the RiverDogs is currently 4.76. He only threw 22 of 40 pitches for strikes.

Thursday: Did not play

Friday: Game postponed

Saturday: Did not play

Sunday: Tate earned the win (4-3), in game two of a doubleheader against the Columbia Fireflies. He struck out three, walked none, and gave up two hits and one run (earned). Dillon induced five groundouts to zero flyouts.
