A source has confirmed that Gleyber Torres has been promoted to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A), and pitcher Josh Rogers will be joining the Trenton Thunder (Double-A) .
Following a MVP Arizona Fall League performance and an incredible Spring Training, Gleyber Torres has thrived in Trenton this season. In 32 games, he his batting at a .273/.367/.496 slash line, with five home runs, 10 doubles, 22 runs scored and 18 RBI’s.
Rogers has thrown a Tampa Yankees (Single-A Advanced) team high 52.2 innings this season. He has a record of 4-3 and pitched to a 2.22 ERA. He has struck out 51 opposing hitters, walked eight and his WHIP is an astonishing 1.01.
Among other news the New York Yankees recalled right handed pitcher Bryan Mitchell, optioned Giovanny Gallegos to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and transferred Eric Ruth from Scranton to Trenton.
Also, Jose Mesa has been promoted to Trenton while Travis Hissong has joined the Tampa Yankees from Extended Spring Training.
