TRENTON, NJ – The Thunder scored eight times in the eighth inning to take an 11-4 win in the series opener against the Hartford Yard Goats on Tuesday night at ARM & HAMMER Park.
With the game tied at 3-3, Trenton sent 12 batters to the plate against the Yard Goats bullpen. Miguel Andujar tripled in a pair of runners to break the tie and thanks to a Hartford error later in the inning and a three-run double from Dustin Fowler, the Thunder broke the game open for the victory. The eight runs and seven hits recorded in the frame both tied season-highs for the team.
Daniel Camarena and Zach Jemiola each allowed three runs in their start and both took no-decisions. Camarena allowed six hits and no walks in his outing and was followed by Travis Hissong with a pair of scoreless frames.
Jose Rosario, Fowler, Higashioka, Andujar and Mike Ford each recorded multi-hit games in the victory. Fowler extended his hit streak to a career-best 14 games with a first inning single.
