Trenton Bats Erupt on Goats in Eighth

TRENTON, NJ  – The Thunder scored eight times in the eighth inning to take an 11-4 win in the series opener against the Hartford Yard Goats on Tuesday night at ARM & HAMMER Park.

With the game tied at 3-3, Trenton sent 12 batters to the plate against the Yard Goats bullpen. Miguel Andujar tripled in a pair of runners to break the tie and thanks to a Hartford error later in the inning and a three-run double from Dustin Fowler, the Thunder broke the game open for the victory. The eight runs and seven hits recorded in the frame both tied season-highs for the team.

Daniel Camarena and Zach Jemiola each allowed three runs in their start and both took no-decisions. Camarena allowed six hits and no walks in his outing and was followed by Travis Hissong with a pair of scoreless frames.

Jose Rosario, Fowler, Higashioka, Andujar and Mike Ford each recorded multi-hit games in the victory. Fowler extended his hit streak to a career-best 14 games with a first inning single.

Your Thunder continue their homestand on Wednesday afternoon at 12pm against the Hartford Yard Goats. RHP Ronald Herrera will start for the Thunder, RHP Sam Howard will go for Hartford. Following Wednesday’s game, join the Thunder at Killarney’s Publick House at 1644 Whitehorse Mercerville Road for the Trenton Thunder Radio Show. Tickets are available by phone at 609-394-3300 or online at TrentonThunder.com.
