Trenton Thunder HOPE Week to Begin on Tuesday, June 14

The Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New Yankees, are thrilled to announce the team’s annual HOPE Week (Helping Others Persevere and Excel) will take place June 14-18.

HOPE Week is a New York Yankees initiative designed to reach out to remarkable people and organizations who are worthy of recognition for their inspiring actions and support of their communities.

This year the Thunder will honor individuals and organizations who have positively impacted people in Mercer County. Each honoree will be recognized on the field prior to the game that night at ARM & HAMMER Park.

Tuesday, June 14 – Team Red, White, and Blue 
Team RWB’s mission is to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. Members of the Thunder front office will participate in the Viking Dash at South Brunswick High School on Friday, June 10th, a 1.4 mile obstacle/mud run course which will benefit Team RWB. Team RWB will be in attendance at ARM & HAMMER Park. For more information on Team RWB visit www.TeamRWB.com

Wednesday, June 15 – Jordan Wilson
Jordan Wilson is a member of the Lawrence Intermediate School 5th grade class and raised $1,300 for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen at the 2015 Mercer County Turkey Trot. Wilson’s fundraising efforts accounted for nearly 40% of the additional donations made to the 3rd Annual Mercer County Turkey Trot (not including race fees).

Thursday, June 16 –  Trenton YMCA
The YMCA of Trenton is an organization with a long standing history in the Mercer County area. Founded in 1856, this Y was one of the very first in the United States of America, considering that YMCA’s did not come to the USA until 1850. The YMCA of Trenton has a proud history which includes the very first professional basketball game and is committed to building a strong future.

Friday, June 17 – Captain Paul’s Firehouse Dogs
Established in 2009, Captain Paul’s Firehouse Dogs is a family owned and operated business located on Princeton Pike in Lawrenceville, NJ. Captain Paul’s is dedicated to the men and women associated with emergency services, the military and their families, and for all those who volunteer to help others.

Saturday, June 18 – Vs. Cancer Foundation
The Vs. Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving kids’ lives by empowering athletes and communities to fund lifesaving childhood cancer efforts. As part of their honoring in Thunder HOPE Week, Thunder players and front office members will be shaving their heads to raise money for childhood cancer research.
