When you’re hot, you’re hot. Staten Island Yankees outfielder Trey Amburgey has been named the New York – Penn League player of the week for the second consecutive week. The 20-year old out of St. Petersburg Community College was a 13th round draft pick by the New York Yankees and has done nothing but hit since being drafted.
In 37 games in the Gulf Coast League he batted .333 with 14 steals, earning himself a promotion to Staten Island when Jhalan Jackson went down with a back injury. Since the promotion he has been on fire, hitting for .455 batting average in 15 games for the Baby Bombers. The last week alone he went 14-for-31 over an 8 game stretch, good for a .452 batting average. Trey has proven himself to be a force in that lineup and a key contributor down the stretch for the Staten Island Yankees.
