Moosic, Pa- A night that brought a new name and new uniforms didn’t bring a new outcome. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Trolley Frogs (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) dropped the second straight game of the home stand to the Columbus Clippers (Cleveland Indians) in a 2-1 loss at PNC Field. Kyle Roller provided the only offense smacking a towering solo blast in the bottom of the ninth. Michael Pineda tossed four plus innings allowing a run on six hits and striking out seven in his second rehab start.
Pineda was a victim of deep counts and bloop hits in the first inning. Back-to-back bloop singles by Clippers’ (64-56) Elliot Johnson and Jesus Aguilar put runners on the corners with one out. Giovanny Urshela grounded into a fielder’s choice allowing a run to come in for a 1-0 lead. Pineda found a groove between the third and fourth striking out four of the last eight batters he faced before giving way to Jeremy Bleich with one out in the top of the fifth inning.
Urshela added the second run of the game in the seventh with a solo home run off Nick Rumbelow to make it 2-0.The RailRiders (57-62) bats awoke in the ninth putting the tying run on base. Roller connected with a two-out solo homerun chased Josh Outman and cut the deficit 2-1. John Ryan Murphy singled to extend the inning before Taylor Dugas grounded out to end the game.
