It was a very good day for the Yankee organization overall. Ichiro got acquired but also top five prospect Tyler Austin started his rehab assignment. Austin helped the Yankees win seven to two today behind his big day back. As a whole the Yankees went 10 for 32 on the day with five walks as a team.
Tyler Austin came back and started just where he left off. He went two for three today with a home run. He was the DH today so he didn’t play the field. Hopefully Austin will play the field tomorrow and it won’t take too long before he’s back up to High A.
Austin Aune continued to improve as he went one for three today. He hit a double today and walked twice. While that was good he also struck out twice today also.
Austin Romine played seven innings today which means he is getting close to playing nine innings today. At the plate Romine went hitless in two at bats with a hit by pitch and with a walk also.
Daniel Camarena made his debut after being the on the disabled list to start the season. He went three innings today with two strike outs. He allowed one hit but got three groundball outs to one flyball out. A very good debut for the overslot pick from last year.
Coming in after Camarena was Rony Bautista. The big lefty pitched three innings today also and had the strikeout pitch working. He struck out six batters but did allow five hits which led to an earned run. Bautista got the win today and he has really improved his command. He has struck out twenty batters over his last four games he’s pitched while only walking two.
Tomorrow the Yankees will go over to the Braves complex and play at noon eastern time.
