Per a press release from the New York Yankees, utility-man Tyler Wade has been reassigned to minor league camp.
Wade enjoyed a tremendous amount of success this spring, hitting at a .357/.400/.452 slash line. In 25 games, he saw time at second base, shortstop, and in the outfield.
Some viewed Wade as the man who should fill in for the injured Didi Gregorius to start the season, but the Yankees have decided to give him more time to properly develop in the minor leagues.
Tyler will report to the Yankees Himes Player Development Complex today and will begin 2017 in Triple A with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
