Today the New York Yankees traded Martin Prado and David Phelps for Garrett Jones, Nathan Eovaldi and prospect Domingo German. The last name is one Yankees fans should become really excited about. The young right-hander out of the Dominican Republic was recently named the Marlins 6th best prospect according to Baseball America and MLB.com has him listed as Miami’s 8th best prospect prior to the trade.
Domingo is currently a three-pitch pitcher with a sinking fastball that sits between 91-94 miles per hour and an above average changeup with a work-in-progress slider. This past season he was with the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the South Atlantic League with a 9-3 record, a 2.48 ERA in 25 starts. In 123.1 innings he allowed 116 hits, struck out 113 and walked just 25.
Where will he fit in with the Yankees? Expect him to slide into that crowded Tampa Yankees rotation in 2015.
