Draft is less than a week away and we are getting more mocks out. First up we have MLB pipeline.
MLB Pipeline
18. Yankees: Forrest Whitley, RHP, Alamo Heights HS (San Antonio, Texas)
There are mixed signals coming out of New York, which has interest in prep right-handers Anderson, Whitley and Kevin Gowdy from California. Other indications are that the Yankees may want a college bat such as Craig or Virginia catcher Matt Thaiss. Trammell is a dark horse here.
Forrest would be a good selection here. He has moved up a bunch this year because he got himself into better shape. His stuff got better and his command improved also. Big stuff, good command and big imposing pitcher. I would prefer Ian Anderson but in Callis’ mock he is off the board to the Red Sox.
Law’s mock is behind ESPN’s paywall. So all I’ll put is he picked Ian Anderson. Anderson seems to be the player the Yankees have been linked to the most. He would be a very good upside pick and probably would be the 2nd best pitching prospect in the system after Kaprelian.
What’s interested about Law’s write up he links the Yankees to LHP Kyle Muller. We will have draft profiles of Muller and Trammel who continues to be linked to the Yankees up soon also.
