Hi, what are you looking for?

Yankees 14th Round Pick: Will Carter

Will Carter played this last year at Alabama University.   He went to two junior colleges before getting to Alabama which isn’t unusual.  Carter stands 6’3″ weighing 190 lbs and throws right handed.  This year was his first at Alabama and started ten games for them.  He was their Saturday starter which means he was the second best starter on the team.  But the year didn’t’ go well so he got demoted to a relief role.

Stuff:  Coming back from Tommy John Surgery Carter still has a good fastball that can sit in the low 90s while in relief.  He will also throw a curveball as his secondary pitch.

My Take: This is what the Yankees do.  They take college relievers and see who can stick.   Nothing wrong with that especially when he’ s a 14th round pick. If Carter doesn’t like signing with the Yankees he might opt to go back to college as a senior to raise his draft stock.
