Yankees Prospect Greg Bird earned a run in yesterday’s game against the Peoria Javelinas. Dante Bichette Jr. and Aaron Judge were also important contributors to the game, with all three prospects making good contact in their at-bats. The Scorpions fell to the Javelinas 5-6.
Bird played first place batting two for four with an RBI. Judge found himself in right field, also batting 2-4 with a walk and an RBI. Bichette was the Scorpions designated hitter, going 2-4 with his at bats with a walk and contributing two RBI’s.
The prospect batters came out strong in the first inning. Both Judge and Bird would single, and Bichette walked. Judge batted third in the lineup, with Bird batting fourth and Bichette fifth.
Bird earned his run in the top of the fourth inning. He first singled on a ground ball to right field, and then made it to second when Bichette was out on a ground ball. Bird would make it home from second after a single by Matt Reynolds.
In the last inning, Bird and Bichette both connected for RBI’s. Bird was out on a sacrifice fly bringing home Roman Quinn, followed by a ground ball to center field by Bichette, bringing home Logan Moore.
These teams will face each other again tomorrow with the Scorpions as the home team. The game will begin at 12:35 MST.
