Yankees Make First Round of Roster Cuts

The New York Yankees announced on Thursday that they have reassigned six players to their alternate Spring Training Site, PNC Field in Scranton Wilkes-Barre.

Right-handed pitchers Domingo Acevedo, Daniel Alvarez, Luis Gil, Luis Medina, Adonis Rosa, and Alexander Vizcaino, along with catcher, Max McDowell have all been reassigned to the Taxi Squad at the Yankees’ alternate Spring Training Site.

As opening day approaches and the finalization of rosters occurs by Wednesday, we will see at least 24 more players assigned to the Taxi Squad. The rosters must be down to thirty players by Wednesday ahead of Opening Day on Thursday, with the remaining thirty players being reassigned to the taxi squad, where they will continue to stay ready and develop and be the sources from which teams can pull players throughout the season should they need to do so.

As stated above, the Yankees have selected PNC Field in Scranton as their alternate Spring Training site for the 2020 season.
