Yankees MiLB Preview: Abreu Take the Hill for Trenton, Medina for Charleston

RHP Zach Plesac (3-1, 2.73) vs LHP Daniel Camarena (3-4, 5.93)

Daniel Camarena goes out for this 12th start of the season for the RailRiders and will be facing Columbus for the first time this season. Camarena last pitched on July 11th against Syracuse where he took the loss after throwing 7.0 innings and allowed four earned runs on nine hits. The RailRiders are coming off of a 6-4 win on Monday.

RailRiders pitchers hold an ERA of 4.58 giving up 774 hits in 826 1/3 innings pitched. They have walked 299 and struck out 871. Columbus pitchers hold a team ERA of 4.73 giving up 789 hits, 130 of those hits have been home runs.

Offensively the RailRiders are hitting .278 as a team which is tied for the second-highest team batting average in the International League. Their .490 slugging percentage and .839 OPS are both sitting at the top of for those respective statistics. Albert Abreu gets the nod for his 16th start for the Thunder this season and will be seeing Altoona for this first time. He last pitched on 7/7 against Hartford where he threw 6.0 scoreless innings allowing only two hits, three walks, one hit batter and logged six strikeouts in his fifth quality start of the season for the Thunder. The Thunder are coming off a 4-3 win on Monday.

Trenton currently holds a team ERA of 3.57 and have allowed 663 hits in 767 1/3 innings pitched. Their 50 home runs allowed are tied with Richmond for the fewest given up in the Eastern League. Altoona pitchers hold an ERA of 3.60 and have surrendered 725 hits in 778 1/3 innings pitched. Opposing hitters have connected for 80 home runs against curve pitchers thus far in the season.

Offensively the Thunder are hitting .240 as a team with 696 hits and a slugging percentage of .373. Curve hitters hold a batting average of .242 with 701 hits.

Shawn Semple takes the mound for his 12th start of the season for High-A Tampa and will see the Fort Myers Miracle for the second time this season. In his previous start against the Twins’ affiliate on 6/12, he logged a quality start going 6.0 innings allowing two earned runs on six hits and fanned five, picking up the win.

Tarpons pitchers hold a team ERA of 3.78 and have given up 718 hits and 329 earned runs in 784 1/3 innings pitched. Their 807 strikeouts are good enough for third in the Florida State League in that category.

Fort Myers pitchers hold a team ERA of 3.18 which is the third-lowest team ERA in the league. They have given up 284 earned runs on 701 hits in 803.0 innings pitched.

Offensively the Tarpons hold a team batting average of .234 and have collected 665 hits in 2,955 team at-bats. They have hit 65 home runs and have driven in 330.

Miracle hitters currently hold a team batting average of .241 and have 731 hits in 3,028 team at-bats. Their 72 team home runs lead the Florida State League and are sitting alone in second place in the league doubles category.

Luis Medina will get the ball in his 16th start of the season for the RiverDogs and will be facing Augusta for the fourth time. He last faced the Green Jackets on 7/3 and was roughed up allowing five earned runs on four hits in 2 2/3 innings pitched. The RiverDogs are coming off a 3-2 win over Augusta on Monday.

RiverDogs pitchers have an ERA of 3.88 and have given up 361 earned runs in 836 1/3 innings pitched. Their 49 home runs allowed are the second-fewest in the South Atlantic League.

Augusta pitchers hold a team ERA of 3.31 and have allowed 301 earned runs in 818 1/3 innings pitched. Their 922 strikeouts are the second-most in the league.

Ryan Anderson will make his fourth start of the season for Pulaki and his first against Bristol. He last pitched on 7/10 against Bluefield, taking a no-decision. Pulaski is coming off a 10-2 win over Bristol on Monday.

Pulaski pitchers hold a team ERA of 3.78 and have allowed a league-low 92 earned runs on 191 hits. Pulaski pitchers have given up the second-fewest home runs (18) in the Appalachian League.

Bristol pitchers have an ERA of 4.12, allowing 106 earned runs on 220 hits in 231 1/3 innings pitched. They have struck out 250 opposing hitters which is the second most strikeout total in the league.
