Yankees Rally in the Seventh to Win Against GCL Phillies

The Yankees and Phillies GCL affiliates played and it wasn’t until the seventh inning that the Yankees put together some runs.  After that inning it was the pen that closed the game out.

Kelvin Duran went two for five on the day with a RBI and strike out.   The only other multi hit game was Ericson Leonora who went two for three on the day.  One of the hits was a double and he did get an RBI on the day.  Those were the best hitting performance of the day.

The big prospects again didn’t have great days.  Greg bird went hitless in three at bats and on top of that he had two strike outs.    Now he didn’t have any stolen bases against him or pass balls which are good.   Slade Heathcott went one for four with no power still.  Miguel Andujar also went one for four with a run, RBI and strike out.

Luis Niebla started the game and went four innings of work.  He allowed three hits to go along with two earned runs while striking out two batters to two walks.   Niebla is twenty one year old prospect out of Mexico and just signed last year.  He got a decent bonus and has some potential so keep an eye on him.

Chaz Hebert came in for two innings of work. He struck out one batter during his two innings to go along with two hits.  Hebert got drafted in 2011 out of Louisiana for $148,000 who had his fastball go up to 92 mph.  He should be starting but is piggy backing off of Niebla right now which is fine.

Yoely Bello and Melvin Mercedes finished off the final three innings of the game.  Bello had two strike outs and a walk while Mercedes didn’t strike anyone out but did give up a hit.

Teams will face off again tomorrow at 10 am eastern time before their normal Sunday break
