Yankees Reassign 6 to MiLB Camp

After the game on Thursday, the New York Yankees announced that they have reassigned right-handed pitchers Cale Coshow, Raynel Espinal, Dillon Tate; left-handed pitchers Trevor Lane and Justus Sheffield; and catcher Chace Numata to minor league camp.

These six re-assignments mark the first cuts to the Yankees spring training roster and come a week before minor league spring training games are scheduled to start on March 16.

Coshow appeared in five games this spring allowing three earned runs in 4 2/3 innings pitched.  While Espinal struck out 4 in 3 1/3 innings of work in three games allowing just one run.  Tate was touched for one earned run in four innings of work this spring, across two games.

Justus Sheffield has struggled a bit this spring, occasionally showing flashes of what has earned him praise in the minors.  In three games out of the bullpen, he allowed seven earned runs in 5 1/3 innings of work.  Lane has had a bit more success throwing 2 2/3 innings of shutout baseball across three games.

Chace Numata had just three at-bats with the Yankees this spring and did not record a hit.
