Yankees Release MiLB Catcher

The New York Yankees are continuing to clear out roster space as they have released minor league catcher Ronaldo Suarez from his contract earlier this month.

Suarez, 19, has been with the Yankees since signing as an international free agent on May 23, 2014.  He went on to make his professional debut that year with the Dominican Summer League Yankees where he hit just .222 in six games, nine at-bats.

He started the 2015 season in the DSL again but after three games found himself promoted to the Gulf Coast League.   That season he hit just .152 between both Rookie-level teams with two doubles and two RBIs.

This past season Suarez returned to the Gulf Coast League and hit just .045 in 14 games, 22 at bats.

The Barquisimeto, Venezuela native played 45 of his 47 professional games as a backstop, the other two were as a designated hitter.
