Yankees Release Minor League Pitcher

Yesterday the New York Yankees released right-handed pitcher Jeris Casanova from his contract.  Casanova was assigned to the Dominican Summer League Yankees.

Casanova, 22, has been with the Yankees in 2013 when he made his professional debut with the DSL Yankees.  In his first season, he appeared in five games in the rookie league, allowing 6 earned runs over 7 1/3 innings of work.  He fared much better in 2014 where he threw 23 1/3 innings out of the bullpen over 15 games and allowing 6 earned runs.  He has not played since.
