The New York Yankees have released minor-league RHP Jordan Cote, the team announced Monday.
Cote, 22, split last season between Short-Season Class-A Staten Island and Class-A Charleston, pitching in just 26 games (due in part to a back injury that hampered him much of the summer) and posting a 4-5 record and 6.14 ERA in those appearances.
A third-round draft pick in 2011 out of Winnisquam Regional HS in Northfield, New Hampshire, Cote was 7-6 with a 3.91 ERA in 41 games (16 starts) over three seasons with the Yankees, striking out 100 and posting a 1.326 WHIP in 129 innings pitched.
The righty spent his first two years pitching in the Gulf Coast League before making 12 relief appearances for the RiverDogs and 16 outings (nine starts) for the SI Yankees last season.
