Yankees Reveal Initial Player List For 2017 Season

The New York Yankees today revealed an initial player list for your Thunder as the team begins the 2017 season. This list is not to be interpreted as an Opening Day Roster as that will be confirmed by the Thunder prior to the team’s opener against the Erie Seawolves on Thursday, April 6.

To see the entire player list, click here.

The player list includes three of the top eight prospects in the New York Yankees system according to Baseball America in INF Gleyber Torres (#1), LHP Justus Sheffield (#7) and RHP Chance Adams (#8).

The list includes 17 players who have previously appeared with the Thunder, including ten pitchers who were on the roster for the team’s run to the Eastern League Championship series in 2016.

The player list also includes three of the four players that were acquired by the Yankees in the deal that sent Aroldis Chapman to the Chicago Cubs. OF Billy McKinney, OF Rashad Crawford, INF Gleyber Torres and former Thunder RHP Adam Warren were acquired by the Yankees last July in exchange for the Cuban closer and Crawford and Torres will make their Double-A debut when they first step onto the field in a Thunder uniform.

Fans will have their first chance to see their 2017 Thunder at ARM & HAMMER Park on Tuesday, April 4 for the Esurance Welcome North Open House. For more information on the event, click here.

The 2017 season, the 24th in franchise history, will begin at ARM & HAMMER Park on April 13 when the Thunder host the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) at 7:00 p.m. For more information on the Thunder and to purchase tickets, visit www.TrentonThunder.com or call 609-394-3300.
