2021 MLB Draft

Yankees Select Pitcher Robert Ahlstrom With 213th Overall Pick In 2021 MLB Draft

With their seventh-round draft selection (213th overall), the Yankees selected left-handed pitcher Robert Ahlstrom from Oregon. Ahlstrom threw 90 innings for Oregon in 2021, giving up 28 runs (25 earned) on 77 hits and walking 16 batters, which is good for a 2.50 ERA and a 9-3 record.

Named the PAC-12 Conference Pitcher of the Week on March 16th, 2021 as well as being named to the 2021 ABCA/Rawlings Division I West All-Region team, Ahlstrom is a 6’2”, a 176-pound pitcher with a solid build and a quick windup. Ahlstrom went to a JUCO (Chemeketa Community College in Salem, OR) and was quoted as getting stronger there and getting innings in the right way.  2021 was his best year at Oregon, after holding a 6.08 ERA in the abbreviated 2020 season (23.2 IP), and 3.93 ERA in 2019 (73.1 IP).

Ahlstrom played for a summer collegiate team in the West called the Medford Rogues of the Great West League in 2018 prior to being offered to pitch by Oregon for the 2019 season. Ahlstrom held a 2.73 ERA in 29.2 IP with the Rogues, and also held a .304 batting average with 5 runs on 7 hits in 23 ABs.
