Yankees Take De La Cruz in MiLB Rule 5 Draft

In the minor league phase of the annual Rule 5 draft, the New York Yankees selected right-handed pitcher Adonis De La Cruz from the Seattle Mariners.

De La Cruz spent the 2018 season with the Clinton LumberKings where he was 3-4 with a 4.71 ERA but struck out a whopping 75 batters in 57 1/3 innings of work.

De La Cruz is a converted outfielder, who was originally signed by the Mariners on February 15, 2013.  He was converted into a pitcher after the 2014 season and found a home in the bullpen the last few seasons.
