In the 27th round of the 2015 First-Year-Player draft the New York Yankees selected high school first baseman Michael Hicks out of Coeur d’Alene High School. The young prospect is tall, 6-foot 7-inches to be exact and has the ability to grow into a solid power hitter as he develops.
This past year Michael was named All-League in the 5A Inland Empire League and last year was named to the second team All-USA Idaho baseball team. He has pitched a few games in his high school career but his future is in the field every day at either first base or in right field. He is committed to attend college at Yavapai College in Arizona but it should not take much for the Yankees to sign him away.
If he does sign he will head down to Tampa, Florida to play in the Gulf Coast League with one of the two Yankees teams down there.
